A Little Pack of Ranch Seasoning Goes a Long Way!
Hello!
Test 1. Test 2. LOL
Thank you Leslie and Mat for letting me contribute on The Swamp. I thought I would just make a thread sharing one of my most fav secret ingredients today. Its not anything expensive or high end but I find it always turns foods into a crowd pleaser. Its.....Ranch Seasoning Packets.
Most people use onion soup packs but I find the ranch is more zingy and who doesn't like a little zing!
One of my go-to pressure cooker/crock pot (oh the horror!!!) recipes is any chicken (breast, thigh, ground etc) seasoned with a packet of ranch seasoning. I brown my chicken first, if I can but its not necessary. I then sauté mushrooms prior, throw in some crispy bacon and a can of cream soup (mushroom, chicken...it doesn't matter), and a little chicken stock to keep things wet and you end up with a great creamy sauce for pasta.
This seasoning with butter on mash potatoes really makes a difference. I have used this on mash potatoes or a seasoning on roasted baby potatoes for various family pot lucks and I never go home with an empty bowl and always get a bunch of thank yous.
This seasoning works well added in with any shake 'n bake or breaded pork/chicken recipe. This and actual buttermilk is worth checking out!!!!
Lastly, if you ever buy pre-made cresent rolls for making your own rolls or pigs in a blanket, melt some butter to brush on top, sprinkle this and then bake. It just gives a little zest to an ordinary party appetizer for Thanksgiving or Christmas and makes people turn and say "ohhh what's different here?" I like when my guests do that.
Not sure if anyone can benefit from this but wanted to share and think THE SWAMP is a great place to do such!
