Swamp Tips: Interior Design

Our home is the modern person’s castle. It is our protective bubble and our comfort zone.

How to customize this space depends on individual taste and needs. That’s why we look to the elite and creative minds to inspire us to new heights in home decor.

Keep in mind, these are the upper echelon of society, and we may not recreate their living spaces exactly, but we can try our best. Let’s examine the lifestyle of the successful American business owner:

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MOOD!

Practicality is important, we’ll get to that in a bit. But first we set the ambiance. Who doesn’t love the holidays? It’s such a festive time. Why confine this feeling to one or two months a year?

Leave those wreaths and stockings up all year. Then it’s perpetually Christmas Eve! Oh boy!

Now that we’ve set the mood it’s time to add furniture

MORE IS BETTER

Convenience  is key to a comfortable home. And the best way to organize is to centralize everything you own onto your coffee table for easy access

You never want your WD-40, your travel mug of  moldy coffee, spreadsheets, and “air mattress patches” too far out of your reach. You’ll be on a three day meth bender quite often  and you don’t want to have to search for essentials

STOW AWAY. DON’T THROW AWAY!

Inevitably you won’t be able to fit all your useless junk onto your coffee table. You’ll have to adapt the nooks and crannies in your home into storage space. Sometimes people will build shelving under stairs to neatly stash away infrequently used items. That takes time and effort to build. Just use the hoarder method

Jam all your junk in a pile. Problem solved.

Maybe the modern American business owner design style is not your cup of tea. Well, The Swamp has a cup of tea for you!

British Colonial Design!

This style utilizes less modern looks. Like a vintage kitchen with retro appliances

The permanent stains make it look like you’ve been slaving away in the kitchen all day. Nobody will know those stains came with mom’s house. She won’t tell anyone.
Another colonial design is rustic cupboards
These dilapidated doozies scream “I’m so busy I can’t re-attach the knobs”.
Finally, pair this all together with some custom floor tiling
The fun shapes of the broken tiles and weird designs made by the food stains will offer hours of entertainment.

What interior design do you prefer?
Modern American business owner?
Or
British Colonial design?
