Swamp Music- EP Party

I’m a music nut. I like playing music, listening to music and watching live music.

But another favorite music activity of mine is album hunting. In the old days that meant me digging through crates of vinyl at flea markets and garage sales.

Now, in the digital world, I like to explore recommendations based on my purchase history, then follow the rabbit hole where it takes me.

The EP (extended player) is the LP’s  (long player) little brother. When exploring for new bands I like to first purchase these short releases instead of a whole album. This gives me 3-5 songs (usually under 20 minutes) to see what the band is about.

Recently I downloaded a few EPs I’d like to share with you.

Guana Batz- Shake It Up

Guana Batz are a psychobilly band. They mix early rock with a punk attitude.

Shake, Rattle, and Roll

Continuing with the “shake” theme, we have this mix album with two songs each from three of the dustiest underground bluesmen in the business. They collaborate on many of the tracks for a fun group effort

El Ray- The Evil Mermaid

https://youtu.be/d4btYrdUYSw

El Ray play a very clean and upbeat style of surf music. It’s definitely indebted to the classics like The Ventures.

Whitey Morgan and the 78’s- Sonic Ranch

This final inclusion isn’t an EP, but at $5.99 it’s priced like one. This album is for anyone who thinks they don’t make good country music anymore. Let Whitey Morgan prove that sentiment wrong. He is the real deal

BONUS ALBUM!

Sean Reefer and the Resin Valley Boys

Do you like Hank Williams? Do you like weed? Well, I got some THC for you. That’s Texas Hill Country. This is weed worshiping honky tonk music that’s just too damn fun.
